Ohrid is a 55000 inhabitant city in southwest Macedonia. It is the largest city on Lake Ohrid which is well known for itse biodiversity and cultural heritage. The town is rich in monuments and picturesque houses. The city and the lake were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1980. Ohrid is also notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a “Jerusalem of the Balkans”.
